Sector Q

Overview

Sector Q is located immediately south of Sector I, which contains Ballcourt 1 (the largest ballcourt at Nixtun-Ch’ich’).  Sector Q is bounded by Avenue D and Avenue F and 3^rd Street and 4^th Street. Avenue E, which passes between Sectors X and Y to the south of Sector Q, does not bisect Sector Q making it twice as wide as most sectors. Avenue E meets an odd building in the center of Sector Q with paired superstructures (Structure Q 1/1). Proyecto Itza’s work in Sector Q focused upon 4^th Street, Fosa Q, an artificial pool, and the area north of Structure Q1/1-1.
