Sector Y

Overview

Sector Y includes an E-Group (Y1) with another group (Y2) focused on a sinkhole (Fosa Y) to its east . The E-Group includes an western structure (Y1/2) and three part eastern structure (Y1/1). The eastern half of Sector Y includes two buildings oriented around a large depression/sinkhole. Of course, Groups Y1 and Y2 actually form a larger complex along with an extra western structure (Structure X 1/1) immediately to the west of Structure Y 1/2. Group Y was a critical ritual area in the Middle to Late Preclassic period.
